WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP
VisitBlackpool has been tasked with promoting the UK’s most popular holiday destination to a worldwide audience.
As the tourism arm of Blackpool Council, we work closely with partners and stakeholders to showcase the best that Blackpool has to offer our visitors.
Our partnership working covers a wide range of activities including destination marketing and staging of large-scale events.
In recent years, the number of partners has been expanded and VisitBlackpool now works with local, regional, national and international partners on projects aimed at opening up new audiences for the resort.
For example, the Blackpool Has It All destination marketing campaign which incorporates TV, advertising, PR and digital media is now a collaboration with several major players in the visitor economy including Merlin Entertainments (operators of The Blackpool Tower, SEALIFE and Madame Tussauds); Blackpool Pleasure Beach; Winter Gardens; Sandcastle Waterpark; Blackpool Transport; and several other hotels and attractions.
Last year, VisitBlackpool also trialled a joint venture in association with Nickelodeon to deliver the UK’s first ever SLIMEFEST shows, with two performances staged at the Winter Gardens, as well as working with Club MTV to deliver one of the best Illuminations Switch-On events in recent history.
This year, that arrangement was formalised with an agreement for VisitBlackpool to work in partnership with Nickelodeon and MTV to deliver SLIMEFEST and Switch-On for the next three years.
On the back of last year’s success, SLIMEFEST has grown from two shows in one day, to six shows over three days. These will be staged during October half-term at the Blackpool Pleasure Beach Arena and will feature some of Nickelodeon’s top talent from both the UK and USA.
With some spectacular new attractions, shows and hotel developments in the pipeline for 2018, coupled with the completion of electrification of the Blackpool to Preston rail line, the opportunity to raise Blackpool’s profile has never been better.
