Small Tourism Event Award

This award recognises successful Lancashire tourism events from special packages to a specific event or festival
which takes place over any time period from a day, weekend, week(s), a month or a season.
Attracting fewer than 15,000 visitors.


Large Tourism Event Award

This award recognises successful Lancashire tourism events from special packages to a specific event or festival
which takes place over any time period from a day, weekend, week(s), a month or a season.
Attracting over 15,000 visitors. 


Lancashire Pub/Inn Award *

Pubs making a significant contribution to Lancashire as a tourism destination, with the pub or inn a key factor for
visiting the location or destination. The experience should be of a significant nature, incorporating a wide range of
opportunities to experience Lancashire culture, especially quality food and drink from the county.

Taste Lancashire Award *

Food service businesses that offer excellence and innovation within the visitor economy including restaurants,
hotel restaurants and street food etc.  Judged within the context and style of the business, focused on promotion,
support and presentation of Lancashire produce. 


Lancashire Producers & Makers Award

Businesses that either create local artisan crafts and art, produce typical Lancashire food or drink, or
manufacture ‘only found in Lancashire’ products, and contribute to the visitor experience and
championing Lancashire distinctiveness.


Lancashire Café/Tearoom Award

This award celebrates Lancashire cafés and tearooms that provide unique and characterful experiences for
visitors, which are important to the enjoyment of a location or destination.  The judges will be looking for
excellent service, creativity and Lancashire inspired menu celebrating local suppliers.

 


Sustainable Tourism Award *

Lancashire tourism businesses who can illustrate their excellence and commitment to sustainability

Business Tourism Provider Award *

Businesses that offer a high quality experience to the business visitor and/or generate tourism through
staging of high quality business events (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions).

 


New Business Award

Recognises new Lancashire tourism businesses which have been trading for a minimum of six months
and a maximum of two years. 


Inclusive Tourism Award *

Lancashire tourism businesses that provide inclusive tourism experiences for all visitors; where even
a small change could have made a real impact on the wider visitor experience.


Small Visitor Attraction Award *

Visitor attractions with less than 75,000 visitors per annum or less than 10 full time
equivalent members of staff. 


Large Visitor Attraction Award *  

Visitor attractions with more than 75,000 visitors per annum or more than 10 full time
equivalent members of staff.  


Culture & Heritage Award

Museums, galleries, heritage sites and arts spaces, that offer a genuine insight into Lancashire culture
and can demonstrate their appeal to visitors/audiences from across the county and beyond.

 


Visitor Experience Award

Exceptional tourism experiences in Lancashire.  The experience will include a visitor participation element,
for example sporting activities, cookery classes, guided tours or learning experiences.

 


Self-Catering Holiday Award *

Accommodation providers including serviced apartments, cottages and flats; glamping businesses
including non-traditional accommodation such as yurts, tepees; as well as traditional holiday parks
with static vans, touring pitches and/or tent pitches.

 


Guest Accommodation Award *

Any style of serviced accommodation, including restaurants with rooms; pubs with rooms;
limited service hotels; B&Bs and guest houses or room only accommodation. Judges looking for
innovation and creativity, allied to excellent service. 


Small Hotel Award *

Recognising all Lancashire hotels with 35 bedrooms or less.  Offering a minimum service of reception,
bar, dinner and breakfast.  Hotels will be judged on the overall quality of the experience they provide.

 


Large Hotel Award *

Recognising all Lancashire hotels with over 35 bedrooms.  Offering a minimum service of reception,
bar, dinner and breakfast.  Hotels will be judged on the overall quality of the experience they provide.

 


Wedding Venue Award

Whether offering a more innovative approach to the traditional wedding experience, or developing
new market opportunities, adapted, upgraded or created new facilities, this award recognises the
quality of Lancashire weddings. 


Retail Experience Award

This award is for Lancashire retail businesses that are distinct or unusual and offer a unique
experience for visitors to Lancashire.


Dog Friendly Award*

This award recognises tourism businesses which encourage and welcome visits/stays by dogs
and their owners.  Judges will be looking for innovation and creativity. 


Tourism Superstar Award

Honouring individuals who are making a special contribution to tourism in Lancashire.
‘Unsung heroes/heroines’ who go the extra mile for visitors.


*Winners of these categories will have the opportunity to progress to the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2018
