2023 charity partner

The Community Foundation for Lancashire

The Community Foundation for Lancashire helps individuals and businesses connect, and invest in Lancashire communities through charitable giving, funding local community groups who support our most vulnerable.

The foundation help individuals and businesses give to causes that matter to them where there is most need and where it will have greatest impact.  Businesses further benefit from partnering with them as they ensure they meet the ‘s’ in the social responsibility strand of their journey, guiding them in the development of their strategy and objectives, making it more achievable.

The Community Foundation also manages significant charitable funds in Lancashire on behalf of national bodies such as the National Emergencies Trust (£5m distributed in the first year of the pandemic) and central government, including DCMS (£1.3m to be distributed in Blackpool in the next two years) plus local funds such as United Utilities and the Marsden Building Society Charitable Foundation.  With the support of Edwin Booth CBE DL, as ambassador in Lancashire, the foundation also advise businesses of all sizes across the county as part of Lancashire Investors in Community, which enables the Community Foundation for Lancashire to continue to support communities now and in the future.  Launched in September 2021, Lancashire Investors in Community is open to organisations large and small.  It provides an opportunity for businesses to be part of a commitment to make an impactful, sustainable and positive difference to those most in need throughout Lancashire.  To date there are 27 members from across Lancashire.

Since 2007, in excess of £16 million has been distributed to charities and community groups in Lancashire.  Knowledge of the sector allows the foundation to find and reach charities in the community, including lesser-known charities operating at a grassroots level; ensuring charitable awards create lasting change.

Importantly, The Community Foundation for Lancashire are committed to being there for communities in a crisis.  During the Lancashire floods and the pandemic millions of pounds for community benefit was secured and distributed, supporting the most vulnerable.  Local knowledge, and community connections, enable them to adapt and respond when needed, in order to meet local demand, and this will continue.

Lancashire is part of a national network of 47 UK community foundations that undertake a strategic and robust grant making service, which contributes to achieving maximum impact in local communities.
