The Blackpool Tower to host Unsung Heroes and Stars of Lancashire Tourism

Today, Marketing Lancashire organisers of the annual Lancashire Tourism Awards, announced the finalists in the last remaining category of this year’s competition, the Unsung Hero; a special award that celebrates customer service excellence and recognises those who go over and above their normal duties, to deliver outstanding experiences for visitors to Lancashire.

Marketing Lancashire is also pleased to announce that the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2024 will take place in the world famous Tower Ballroom of Blackpool Tower on Tuesday 11 February 2025, with support of Destination Sponsor, VisitBlackpool.

Aaron Edgar, Head of Operations at The Blackpool Tower commenting on the news said

‘We’re excited to be supporting the Lancashire Tourism Awards, and we’re ready to host this amazing celebration! The Blackpool Tower is the perfect setting to honour the incredible work happening across Lancashire’s tourism sector. It’s going to be a night to remember.’

For the four finalists in the Unsung Hero category, nominated by their industry colleagues, it certainly will be an unforgettable night.  They now await the decision of the Lancashire Tourism Awards judging which takes place this week, and look forward to attending Lancashire’s biggest night for tourism and hospitality.

The Unsung Hero finalists are:

James Ainsworth, Café Manager of Mrs Dowson’s Farm Park of Clayton-Le-Dale, is described as ‘the heart and soul of the team’, who makes an unforgettable impression on visitors and is valued for his positive impact on the whole team, making his colleagues feel valued and inspired. His meticulous care in all interactions ensures all visitors leave with a smile on their face, their heartfelt reviews are a testament to his warmth and dedication.

Beth Armistead, leads the Tours Department at the Elgin Hotel in Blackpool and has successfully grown this new department, working in partnership with attractions across the county, and helping the hotel’s thousands of Elgin Tour guests make the most of their visit to Blackpool and Lancashire. Returning and loyal guests praise her for her smiles and for an unwavering commitment to going above and beyond.

Daniel Atkinson, Head of Marketing and Commercial at Blackpool Transport Services. Daniel’s forward-thinking has kept Blackpool Transport ahead of industry trends and he is leading the very important transition to greener transport. Much praised for his leadership style he has transformed internal operations and revolutionised collaboration with local tourism businesses across Fylde. Daniel is committed to ensuring all visitors have the best travel options available.

Andrew Reid, Operations Manager at Secret Garden Glamping in Skelmersdale, is described as invaluable to operations ‘exemplifying the highest levels of customer service’. Inspiring and motivating he also looks after students with learning difficulties from West Lancashire Community School, who have thrived under his one-to-one mentoring and guidance as part of their work experience programme.
